The main thrust of the country's Second Five Year Development Plan is to increase non-oil exports. The stone industry is among those to fulfill this policy.

 

 In the recent years the number of modern stone cutting factories has increased and the standards and tolerances of [rpcessomg have largely improved. The machinery for stone cutting is made in Iran, but export-oriented companies still import it from abroad to meet international standards
