There have been rumors indicating that there would be low participation to the International Natural Stone Fair MARBLE due to terror concerns; however, the fair have welcomed visitors from 85 counties including USA, Brazil, Israel, China, Russia and Japan.

Having witnessed another global meeting in marble and natural stone sector, Izmir has nullified all the terror related concerns experienced consecutively in different countries. It had welcomed visitors from 35 different countries last year but, this year, International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair MARBLE hosted visitors from 85 countries.

Having been organized on an area of 139 thousand square meters with a growth rate of 12 percent this year, MARBLE, Izmir has made both the participants and the visitors happy. The participants and the visitors contently leaving the fair where intense business negotiations took place have presented their thanks for the fair organized in an environment where they have felt safe.

Huge tent for marble machines
This year, General Directorate have placed a giant tent of size 16 thousand square meters with the highest piers in Turkey to prevent any effect from adverse weather conditions on marble processing machines placed in the open area. Local and foreign companies stands in the open area have been protected from the rain of 45 cubic meters and the wind blowing at 83 kilometers per hour at the weekend. Thanks to the tent with a pier distance of 40 meters.

Mayor Kocaoğlu is content
Having stated that they were experiencing the honor of organizing a successful fair; Aziz Kocaoğlu, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, said "This great participation bringing the world to Izmir is significant sign of the safety of our city. We always highlighted this fact in the international promotions. I think, this has been the greatest income of Marble this year."

What do others say?
Local and foreign participants who summarized their opinions on the fair that hosted an intense shopping traffic have replied as "You cannot scare the business life in any way" to the rumours indicating that participation to MARBLE would be low due to the adverse environment experienced in the country. Here are some opinions from the participants:
Mehmet Bayrak on behalf of Stone Line&Antolini joint venture:
“This fair has played a large role for our participation and it seems to continue to do so. This year, we participated with an Italian partner. They are one of the greatest ones in the world, too. Of course, it has been an honor for us that the greatest ones in the world have participated in the fair. This must be the case for them, too! Because this fair has managed to become one of the top three fairs in the world and it keeps growing. I want to thank all who have contributed in construction of such a beautiful building. The fair has been better this year. We have been quite satisfied with the service. Professional buyers have made their powerful presence felt. You cannot scare the business life. Everyone was here doing their jobs. Our Italian partner was asked a question about the environment in Turkey and replied as "Every day, the same number of people die in traffic accidents. We perform business and mind our own business; politics does not concern us. Of course those events are not pleasant. We wish them to stop; however, they do not seem to cause any obstacle for us to come here".

Mangfu Zhao, Head of Huarui Stone (China):
"We were greatly impressed by the fact that MARBLE is among the top three fairs in the world and we did not want to miss this fair. It is a quite large fair. Many of our customers are here. I love Izmir. Organization is very successful."

Gautam Chand Jain, General Manager of Pokarna Ltd. (India):
"The fair has a large number of international visitors and there are buyers from many places of the world. The fairground is quite beautiful and much larger compared to the previous fairground. This fair has provided a great deal of help to us since we are focused on this spot of the world. MARBLE, Izmir stands on a spot that we wanted it to be and where it needs to be. Also, there are visitors from Europe. I came to Izmir a day before the fair was opened. My friends came three days earlier. We love the city and we find this city and fair quite safe. Those happenings recently are unfortunate; however, we cannot stop working, we need to go on."

Marco Turrio Baldassarri, Sales Manager of Fantini (Italy):
"We have been participating in MARBLE since 20 years. This fair is among the three world fairs. I get the chance to meet new customers here. I did not experience any fear when coming here. Izmir is an important and beautiful city. I love it here."

Andrea Barbieri , Operation Coordinator of Tenax (Italy) :
"It is almost a must for us to participate in this fair since it is among the top three in the world. Therefore, we could not have missed it. This building is situated in a better place in logistic aspects. I would also like to express that the fairground makes you feel safe."
