SUCCESS OF STONA 2016 CELEBRATED

550 exhibitors (400 from India and 150 from abroad) exhibited their products in STONA 2016 held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore from 3rd to 6th February, 2016. 28,000 visitors including foreigners visited the fair. In spite of global recession, the efforts put in by the office bearers of FIGSI and STONA made STONA 2016 a grand success.
Mr. R. Sekar (President), Mr. S. Krishna Prasad (Vice President), Mr. Jitendra Kothari (Vice President), Mr. Ishwinder Singh (Vice President), Mr. Arun Malhotra (Ex. Vice President), Mr. N.K. Aswathrama (General Secretary), Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh (Treasurer) & Mr. Sunil Bhandari (Executive Member) met more than 200 members of FIGSI at Ashok Club, Jaipur on 26th June, 2016.
Mr. Ishwinder Singh, Chairman, STONA 2016 Committee, highlighted the achievements and thanked all the members of FIGSI for their overwhelming support in organizing STONA 2016. Mr. R. Sekar also conveyed his gratitude to the members present and hoped that they would extend their full support and cooperation not only in organizing the next edition of STONA from 7 to 10, February 2018 at Bangalaore, but also in other activities of FIGSI at national level. He also asked the members for their suggestions for activities to be taken up on PAN India basis in tune with "Make in India" and "Skilling India" initiatives announced by Hon'ble Prime Minister.
33rd Annual General Meeting of FIGSI
33rd Annual General Meeting of FIGSI was held at The Lalit Ashok Hotel, Bangalore, on Saturday, the 16th July, 2016.
Some of the highlights of the Annual Report presented in the Annual General Meeting were:

FIGSI has swelled its membership portfolio to 1,233 comprising of 997 life members and 236 ordinary members registering an increase of 43%.

Meetings of Granite Development Council & Marble Development Council attended by representatives of FIGSI.

FIGSI raised the issue of import of granite and marble blocks under OGL Scheme with DGFT.

Preparation of Status Report on Stone Industry assigned to Deloitte, an internationally reputed agency.

11 industries were awarded under various categories during Valedictory Function of STONA 2016.

FIGSI delegation visited Xiamen Stone Fair in China in March, 2016.

FIGSI participated in 15 international fairs for promotion of STONA 2016

Seminars on "Natural Stone in Architecture" and "Geology and Mining" were organized during STONA 2016. Eminent speakers delivered lectures. Both the seminars were well attended.

"Effective Marketing of Dimension Stone 2016" authored by Mr. K. Vikram Rastogi released by Mr. R. Sekar, President, FIGSI during STONA 2016.

Quarterly magazine "Indian Stone" published for the benefit of the members.

FIGSI office bearers interacted with various organizations and associations involved in natural stone industry.

A saving of Rs.739 lakhs by organizing STONA 2016 itself is a testimony for the success of a well planned strategy conceived by Mr. Ishwinder Singh (Chairman, STONA, 2016) under the dynamic leadership of Mr. R. Sekar, President, FIGSI.
