Emergence of new protagonists in the world of stone exporters is an interesting and a welcome development for the industry
as a whole. Some of traditional buyers are now turning to producers and exporters making good use of their resources. Oman is one of such countries which are producing high quality materials.
Today Oman with shipment of 210,000 tonnes of stone material including 60,000 tonnes of coarse calcareous stone and 80,000 tonnes of coarse siliceous stone stands at third place in the classification for quantity among Gulf countries after Iran and Saudi Arabia. Among its customers India shared the maximum in granite while South Korea, China and India were the main buyers of marble.
Till recently considered minor in the stone sector, Oman is showing its will to grow, thanks to a strong investment policy in production and distribution, and application of new technology. Oman has chromatically interesting reserves of stones. |
