From July1, 2013 CE marking will become a legal obligation throughout Europe. A stone needle, 17m (56 feet) high, towers up on either side of the Nandi mandapa, shrine dedicated to the sacred bull associated with the God Shiva. The man standing on the threshold gives us an idea of the scale on which this giant sanctuary was constructed. It is the largest rock-cut temple in India. The facades were originally covered with frescoes.
